We are pleased to announce the launch of Bursary Round 8, offering funded places for the Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles.
This qualification is suitable for individuals who are beginning their youth work journey or who currently work or volunteer with young people and would benefit from gaining a recognised qualification.
Expressions of interest are now open. The Expression of Interest form must be completed by the learner using the following link down below
Following receipt of the Expression of Interest, learners will be invited to complete a full application. Their nominated supervisor will also be required to complete a declaration supporting the application.
Please note that the bursary allocation is a contribution towards the course and does not cover the full cost. The learner’s organisation will therefore be required to contribute £100 towards the learner’s registration and certification costs.
This payment will be made directly to the appointed training provider.
Places are limited, and submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee a bursary allocation. We will contact applicants following the review of submissions to confirm the next steps.
The Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles is an introductory qualification for anyone interested in supporting young people and developing their understanding of youth work.
It is suitable for people who are new to the sector, volunteers already helping with youth activities, or staff who would like to build their knowledge and gain a recognised qualification.
You do not need to be an experienced youth worker to apply. The course is designed to help you develop the confidence, knowledge and practical understanding needed to work effectively with young people.
During the qualification, you will explore key areas of youth work practice, including:
The course will help you understand what makes youth work different from other forms of support and how youth workers enable young people to have a voice, make informed choices and take an active role in their communities.
Learning will take place through a combination of tutor-led sessions, group discussions, practical activities and independent study. You will have opportunities to share experiences, explore real-life youth work situations and consider how the course content applies in practice.
You will be expected to attend and participate in the scheduled learning sessions and complete a portfolio of written tasks or other evidence to demonstrate your understanding. There is no formal exam.
Your tutor will explain each task, provide guidance and give you feedback throughout the course. You will also need to manage some learning and assessment work in your own time.
The amount of time required will depend on your experience and learning style. Alongside the scheduled sessions, you should allow time to complete your portfolio and respond to any feedback from your tutor.
Regular engagement with the course will help you remain on track and complete the qualification within the agreed timeframe.
